Things that Move
Things That Move: Charles Atlas Made Still--- is a photographic response to an exhibition of Charles Atlas’s work at the ICA Boston, where his films explored the intersection of dance, movement, and the moving image. Using long exposure photography, I engaged directly with Atlas’s projected films, capturing their kinetic energy in a way that transforms cinematic motion into layered, abstract compositions. Rather than freezing a single moment, my images stretch movement across time, creating gestural traces of light and shadow. This series exists in dialogue with Atlas’s work, questioning the boundaries between film and photography, motion and stillness, presence and absence—revealing how movement, even when captured in a still frame, continues to resonate....
